About Telepsychiatric Services
The Round Valley Indian Health Center has been providing psychiatric health services since July 2003. This specialty is offered using secure video conferencing technology, allowing patients to have real-time psychiatric consultations with providers located at the U.C. Davis Medical Center, over 200 miles away.
Patients can speak face-to-face with the specialist as if they were in the room together, ensuring high-quality care without the need to travel.
Enhanced Patient Care
There are two key aspects of Telepsychiatric visits that enhance patient care:
1. The Health Center provider joins the last 15 minutes of every visit, ensuring collaboration between the local provider, the specialist, and the patient when creating a care plan.
2. Local providers receive peer support from the specialist. Health Center physicians and nurse practitioners can learn from each visit and consult with the specialist at any time, reducing professional isolation.
Telemedicine Leadership
The Health Center serves as the lead agency for Telemedicine services in the California Area Indian Health Service. It is currently collaborating with five other Indian health clinics to bring psychiatric services to these sites.

To schedule a psychiatry appointment, you must first see your Health Center primary care physician.
